Stone Flooring Buying Guide
Has the perfect flooring material been found? Is there one that has stood the test of time, is long-lasting, low maintenance, beautiful, versatile, and adds resale value to your home? That is the eternal debate. However, indoor natural stone flooring meets many, if not all, of the mentioned traits.
What Is Stone Flooring?
Stone flooring is a natural rock that has been quarried and prepared to use as a floor. Most stone flooring is in tile form and installed the same way as porcelain or ceramic tile. It’s been around long before buildings existed.
Although used more in a bathroom or kitchen, stone flooring is also popular in dining and laundry rooms. It is not limited to those applications; any room in a house can benefit from a stone floor. You are probably more familiar with stone floors in commercial buildings and exterior patio floors.
Types of Stone Flooring
All types of stone flooring have their roots in natural quarried stone. Some are cut, finished, and installed easily, while others will be mixed with resins before they are ready to use. All types are available in a myriad of sizes and have their own characteristics. A few are also sold as slabs, mosaics, or even poured installations.
